Artist Statement
I am interested in the exploration of color and the abstraction of various subjects, while experimenting with different media and textures. Working with layers, I strive to build a composed result while retaining looseness of the form. I use a variety of media including acrylic, pastel, encaustic and mixed media. My strongest influences seem to come from the NY school of Abstract Expressionists, most notably in the works of Willem deKooning, Mark Rothko & Hans Hofmann. I also admire the color of Pierre Bonnard & Wolf Kahn, the innovation of Chuck Close, the modernism of Ida Kohlmeyer & Richard Diebenkorn, and hold a deep admiration for so many others, too many to list, that have embarked on this journey before me.
